Welcome to Coalburn Cottage! Our unique and newly restored holiday cottage set in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside.

Ultimate relaxation, comfort, escape to stay in this beautiful cottage/countryside. Everything is thought of for a very high standard/stay. Thank you for all the effort that goes into keeping this cottage. All the ‘wee touches’– provisions for Fergus (we did bring everything!) Welcome tray, milk, juice etc. thanks! Going home suitably ‘chilled’. Our daughter and ‘son-in-law’ are coming May 2025 after their wedding – well jealous. Look forward to coming again. xxx

This is our second visit to Coalburn Cottage and we wondered if it would be as lovely as we remembered from last year. It did not disappoint. It was every bit as beautiful and well worth the long drive from East Sussex. Thank you James and Katherine for letting us share your amazing piece of Northumberland.

Claire and I are both carers for my mother and wanted a quiet and tranquil break. We have had a fantastic break and fully “recharged our batteries”. The accommodation, setting and really tranquil location have been exactly what we wanted. We really appreciated you providing the welcome pack and if possible would like to return in the future. Absolutely wonderful cottage-thank you!

We have never stayed anywhere in England so beautiful and that is why we came back and will continue to do so to your cottage. A truly fabulous week in this jewel of cottage. 18 years of visiting Northumberland and this has been the best place we have stayed in that time. Great weather and an Aurora extravaganza! We have really enjoyed our stay at this lovely tranquil cottage in the middle of nowhere! The cottage is so well equipped with everything needed. We have enjoyed trips to Bamburgh, Alnwick Gardens, The Treehouse Restaurant , Alnmouth, Chillingham Castle, Cragside, Warkworth Castle and Amble. Thank you Katherine.

We have had a wonderful stay, very relaxed, lovely views and Merlin loved running around such a big garden. Enjoyed watching the birds every morning and coming back to a cosy cottage after each day out. Thank you very much.

We escaped Edinburgh’s Hogmanay to experience blissful JOMO (the joy of missing out!) A relaxing stay, cosy, well appointed cottage which instantly relaxed us into 4 days of wonderful peace and quiet. We love the owl!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas break at Coalburn Cottage. The weather could have been better but the cottage is perfect- peaceful, beautifully equipped and in a lovely part of Northumberland. Thank you for everything.

We can only say that all the effusive comments are repeated here. It’s a beautiful cottage in an amazing location. Even night-time brings a fantastic canopy of stars! Well done for creating such a magical retreat-the best we’ve ever stayed in. The secure garden was perfect for a cavapoo Rosie to wander unsupervised. The Tankerville Arms is very friendly and serves good, honest pub grub and more. Thank you!

We have had a great holiday in this beautiful part of the country. The cottage is everything we hoped for and a fantastic base for a relaxing stay. We had some lovely walks in Cragside, Craster, Berwick-upon-Tweed. The local pub has provided some tasty evening meals too. Thanks for your welcome, coffee and cake and “home from home”. Excellent cottage in a beautiful location. Perfect place to “get away from it all”. Surrounded by nature and wildlife. So peaceful!

Absolutely fantastic cottage in stunning location, dog friendly with welcome packs for dogs and humans alike. Set alone in rural location for peace and quiet, deer and hares in the field, buzzards overhead. Hopefully return when we can. Approx. 7 miles from the lovely town of Alnwick and not too far from several stunning beaches. Nice and helpful owners, many thanks and hope we can return soon.

Wow! What a fabulous stay. The cottage is so beautiful, everything and more we could have ever wished for. So beautifully furnished, the standard of the furnishings and fittings is first class, you can clearly see how much love and care the owners have put into it, and their generosity with all the extra treats supplied goes above and beyond. The setting is breathtaking, the surrounding countryside is stunning, so peaceful with amazing views, yet still within easy reach of all that Northumberland has to offer. The garden is perfect and completely secure for our dog, who had a “Pawsome” time. We were so sad to leave and will definitely be returning, hopefully very soon. Thank you Katherine for allowing us to stay in your beautiful slice of heaven. It is “Pawfect”!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coalburn Cottage and feel very privileged to have been the first guests to stay here. The cottage is beautiful and attention to detail is impeccable. We have loved the isolation, in a lovely part of the country, and have been serenaded by the call of curlews throughout our stay! We will return home relaxed, refreshed and with some very special memories.
